The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy. I have read the book three times and seen the film twice now and I am convinced. Convinced of what you ask? 42 is not the answer.
There are I think seven books in the trilogy, or maybe six...does it matter? Anyway, I think you should all read the first one and then decide what you think and move on if you like. The first book being the first one I think is the most important. I have not moved on as I am stuck on the first one. If you can read the first one and come away with a feeling like "I got that, I understand", then maybe you should read it again. If you thought it was clever and interesting, you should read it again. If you thought "Maybe I didn't get it, and maybe there is something in this book that could relate to "Life, The Universe and Everything", then you should read it again.
There are many truths. There are many things we don't know. There are even things we haven't thought of yet. 42 is a lot of things. My wife opened 40 individually wrapped presents on her birthday, and I can say from experience, that is a lot of things. And that makes a person think. Deep Thought needed 10 Million years to calculate the Ultimate Question, and that is a lot of time. If the answer to Life, the Universe and Everything is 42, and it takes 10 million years to build a computer to figure the Ultimate Question, then why are we so stressed out?
If you ask me, and you won't, the Ultimate Question is...
"Why aren't you having fun?"
This is a pretty big planet. There is lots of stuff to see, experience, touch, taste and just roll around in. Try to enjoy it! I have watched the grass grow, and it's pretty amazing! Tasted a burger that changed my idea of what a burger should taste like. Been to a country where food was everywhere, but I thought I would starve! The food in Finland is awful, by the way.
I intend to stretch, watch, smell, taste, contemplate, feel and a bunch of other things in this life and one of them might be visiting "this great restaurant at the end of the universe". It won't be easy, but I intend to make every effort to savor every bite of it.
